Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center

Project ChildSafe

The Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center (TVAMC) is concerned with the safety of our veterans and their families. For this reason, TVAMC strongly supports Project ChildSafe. Project ChildSafe is a nationwide program devoted to the promotion of safe handling and storage of firearms through the distribution of key safety messages and free gun locking devices (safety kits). The Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center Police are distributing these kits free of charge to veterans and their family members/significant others only. With the exception of veteran status, you, as the recipient of the safety kit, remain anonymous. For more information about how to obtain your free safety kit, contact the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center Police Department at 205-554-2086. For more information about Project ChildSafe, visit For information about how to turn in an unwanted firearm, contact the Tuscaloosa Police Department, Evidence Division at 205-248-4556. The Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center does not allow the possession of any firearms or weapons onsite.
