Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center
Operation Employee Friendship (OEF) Supporting Our Own During Deployment
As part of the Tuscaloosa VA family, we can be part of the support system for our colleagues who are dealing with deployment. We are looking for people who are interested in joining our “OEF” Team. Each team will include 4 – 5 individuals who are matched with a VA family who has a deployed loved one. Since you are part of a team, the time commitment is small – just a few hours a month. As a member of OEF Team you can lend a hand and touch someone’s life.
Can you spend the afternoon cutting grass? Hang a picture or change a light bulb? Go out for coffee and a little adult conversation? Make a run to the grocery store? Go to the park with the kids while the caregiver gets a break?
OEF is not about the BIG things… it's about doing the little things that mean so much more. Not only are you filling a void for the person left back home, you are also providing peace of mind to a service member who knows there are friends in place to help the family.
If you are interested, please join us for an informational meeting on Tuesday, February 9th from 12:00 noon – 1:00 pm Bldg 1, 2nd floor classroom (turn left when you exit the elevator).
Also, if you know of a TVAMC employee who is currently deployed, or an employee who has an immediate family member who is deployed, please encourage them to contact us at 205-554-2000 ext. 2426. We would love to know how we can help out.
